How the door arm connects (LiftMaster sectional doors)

  1. Close the door and pull the emergency release handle. Slide the outer trolley back about 2".
  2. Fasten the straight section to the outer trolley with a 5/16" x 1" clevis pin and ring fastener.
  3. Fasten the curved section to the door bracket with a 5/16" x 1-1/4" clevis pin and ring fastener.
  4. Bring the sections together and bolt them at two pairs of holes that line up, as far apart as possible for a rigid arm.
  5. If the curved arm holes sit above the straight arm holes, LiftMaster says to cut about 6" from the solid end of the straight arm and reconnect it cut end down.

After any change, check the travel limits and test the safety reversal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a straight or curved door arm?
Most sectional doors use both: on LiftMaster openers the straight section connects to the trolley and the curved section connects to the door bracket. The two sections bolt together at two pairs of holes. Order the arm for your opener brand, since hole spacing and pins differ.
