On Genie belt drive openers the rail bolts to the powerhead with a head to rail bracket, and the Genie 36987A is the belt guard for that bracket (item 1A in Genie's parts lists, "for belt drive models"). It covers the belt where it wraps the drive sprocket at the head, keeping fingers and debris away from it.
Before ordering
- Belt drive models only. Chain drive versions of the same heads don't use this guard.
- Check your model in the chart: it covers the 1028/2028, 1128/2128, 3020H/3120, 3022/3024/3042, 3124H/3142, 4022/4024/4042 and 4124 families.
- Run the opener with the guard in place. More parts: Genie parts diagrams.
Unplug the opener before you open it up, and close the door before you work on the drive or rail.
