The Marantec 98875 is the small position tab (also called the reference tab) on the drive chain of a Marantec chain rail. Marantec's manuals list the rail's chain as "chain with position tab". As the chain moves, the tab passes the opener's reference switch. That tells the control board where the door is, and the opener uses it to keep its open and close limits accurate.
Signs the tab is bad
- The opener runs but won't learn or keep its limits
- The door stops short, reverses, or goes past its normal stop point
- The opener shows a travel or reference error after chain work
- You can see the tab is cracked, loose or gone
Fits
Marantec chain rails on M-Series, Q-Series, EX/ML, LC, RV8000 and Synergy openers. Belt rails use the 96834 belt tab. Find your model: Marantec parts diagrams.
Replacing it
- Unplug the opener and close the door. Release the trolley.
- Back off the chain tension so you can reach the chain.
- Fit the new tab at the same spot on the chain as the old one. The rail diagram in your owner's manual shows the tab location.
- Re-tension the chain per the manual, reconnect the trolley, and run the door through a full cycle. Reset the limits if the opener asks.
Chain joint loose too? See the 8030234 chain connector kit.
