Short doors and older garages often use a 6'3" door, and replacement track in this height is hard to find locally. This pair of 2" garage door vertical track replaces the straight upright sections on each side of the door opening. Use it when a track has been bent by a car, rusted through at the bottom, or kinked from a roller jumping out. Each track is 67" long and formed from .051 gauge steel with the standard 2" profile used by most residential doors.

Vertical track is sized by door height, not door width. Measure the door panel itself (not the opening trim), or check the length of the old track from the floor to where the curve starts. If the old track is close to 67", this is the right size.

Key features

  • Sold as a pair: left and right vertical tracks.
  • 2" track for standard 2" nylon or steel rollers.
  • .051 gauge steel, 67" long, sized for a 6'3" door.
  • Optional jamb brackets and hardware (+$9.95) so you can replace everything at once.

Installation overview

  1. Close the door, unplug the opener and clamp the door in place. If the springs are extension springs, release their tension first.
  2. Unbolt the old vertical track from the jamb brackets and from the horizontal track curve.
  3. Set the new track over the rollers, bolt it to the jamb brackets loosely, and connect it to the horizontal track.
  4. Set the gap: about 3/8" to 5/8" between the track and the door edge, plumb from top to bottom, then tighten.
  5. Run the door by hand, then reconnect the opener.

Vertical track size chart

Vertical track is sized by door height: the track is about 12" longer than the door is tall. All of these are 2" track pairs (left and right) for standard-lift residential doors.
