LiftMaster Garage Door Opener Parts, Remotes and Openers - Wall Controls

LiftMaster is the professional line of Chamberlain Group, the largest maker of garage door openers in North America. We stock genuine LiftMaster remotes, keypads, wall controls, logic boards, batteries, safety sensors and replacement parts for residential openers back to 1993. We also carry current residential and commercial openers, plus parts diagrams for more than 100 LiftMaster models.
Start with the learn button. Look on the back or side of your opener for a small square button near the antenna wire. Its color tells you which remotes, keypads and wall controls work. For repair parts, you'll also need the model number from the label on the motor unit. Call 877 379 4947 and we'll help you match it.

Need one remote for two brands or two openers? The L992U universal remote works with LiftMaster openers back to 1993 and most other brands, and the L979U universal keypad does the same for keypads. White learn button openers need Security+ 3.0 accessories; older remotes won't pair with them.

LiftMaster parts and remotes FAQ
Where is the learn button on a LiftMaster garage door opener?
On the back or side of the motor unit, near the antenna wire, usually under or next to the light cover. It's a small square button with an LED beside it. The color of the button (white, yellow, purple, red/orange or green) tells you which remotes, keypads and wall controls will work.
How do I program a LiftMaster remote?
Press and release the learn button on the opener. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the remote button you want to use until the opener lights flash or you hear two clicks. Test the remote. The same steps work for most LiftMaster keypads, except that you enter your PIN and press Enter instead.
Which LiftMaster remote works with my opener?
Match the learn button color. The L993M works with white, yellow, purple and red/orange buttons. White (Security+ 3.0) openers also take the L991S, L993S and L932M. Green learn button openers need the 893MAX or the L992U universal remote. Openers with 9 dip switches and no learn button use a 390 MHz 9-switch remote such as the Stinger 390LMD21V.
Will my old LiftMaster remotes work with a new opener?
Usually not. Current LiftMaster openers such as the 2220L, 2420L, 6580L and 6690L use Security+ 3.0 (white learn button), which doesn't accept Security+ 2.0 remotes and keypads. Replace them with Security+ 3.0 accessories like the L993M remote and L979M keypad.
What battery does a LiftMaster battery backup opener use?
LiftMaster openers with built-in battery backup use the 485LM 12V battery, including the 8500, 8500W, 98022, 8360W, 87504-267, 84602, 2420L, 6580L and 6690L. The older 475LM EverCharge unit uses the 41B591 batteries. When the battery is weak, the opener beeps and its battery LED flashes.
Is LiftMaster the same as Chamberlain?
Both are made by Chamberlain Group. LiftMaster is the line sold and installed by professional dealers, and Chamberlain and Craftsman are sold in stores. Most remotes, keypads, sensors and parts interchange when the learn button color matches, and many parts share the same part number.
My LiftMaster opener is discontinued. Can I still get parts?
Yes. We stock logic boards, gear kits, RPM sensors, chains, belts, trolleys, motors and safety sensors for LiftMaster openers back to 1993, and our parts diagrams show the part number for each piece. If the whole opener needs replacing, see the replacement chart above.
Where do I find my LiftMaster model number?
On the label on the back or side of the motor unit, next to the serial number. The model number (for example 8550W, 3280 or 98022) is what you need to find the right parts diagram.
