Moving Up Garage Door Company is a garage door and opener parts supplier based in Volo, Illinois. Most of what we sell comes from the brands you already know, but a few parts carry our own name: the springs, cables and quiet sleeves on this page.
Moving Up premium torsion springs
Premium powder coated torsion springs are sold as a matched left and right pair, made to the size your door needs. They're the same size as a standard spring, made with a patented hardening process and finished in black powder coat, so they last 50% longer than standard springs of the same size. It's the same spring you get when you choose the "last 50% longer" upgrade on our standard torsion springs.
- Wire sizes 0.192 to 0.283 in., 2 in. inside diameter (1-3/4 in. orders are converted to the matching 2 in. spring), lengths 16 to 60 in.

Safety: torsion springs hold enough force to cause serious injury. Use proper winding bars, and we recommend professional installation.
Moving Up lift cables
Pairs of 1/8 in. 7x19 aircraft cable for standard lift doors with torsion springs. Replace both cables at once.

Roller quiet sleeves
Clear plastic sleeves that slide over 7/16 in. roller stems before they go into the hinges, to stop the steel-on-steel rattle. One per roller, about 10 per door: 20 pack (about two doors) · 50 pack (about five doors). For a full upgrade, see the quiet retrofit kit.

What size torsion spring do I need?
Measure your old spring: wire size (measure 20 coils), inside diameter (1-3/4 or 2 in.) and length of the coils with the spring unwound. Our guide shows how step by step. Never guess a spring size; the wrong spring leaves the door out of balance.
Which lift cable length do I need?
For a standard lift door with torsion springs, the cable is the door height plus 18 in. on doors 8 ft and under: 102 in. for a 7 ft door, 114 in. for an 8 ft door. Taller, high lift or vertical lift doors need different cables; contact us.
Galvanized or stainless steel cables?
Both are 1/8 in. 7x19 aircraft cable. Galvanized is the standard choice for most garages. Stainless steel costs a little more and resists rust better in humid, coastal or wash-down garages.
