Sommer is a German opener maker best known for its direct drive garage door openers: the motor rides along a fixed chain inside the rail, so there is only one moving part and very little noise or vibration. We sell Sommer's current evo+ and pro+ openers, plus genuine Sommer remotes, keypads, battery backups and replacement parts for the evo+, pro+ and the older Synoris and Direct Drive openers.

Check your radio before ordering a remote or keypad. evo+ and pro+ = 922.5 MHz. Synoris and Direct Drive = 310 MHz or 315 MHz (Sommer's 315 MHz accessories are discontinued). Pairing steps: how to program a Sommer remote or keypad. Questions? Call 877 379 4947.

Sommer garage door opener FAQ

How does a Sommer direct drive opener work?

On most openers the motor sits on the ceiling and pulls a chain or belt. On a Sommer, the chain is fixed inside the rail and the motor carriage drives itself along it, pulling the door. The only moving part is a steel sprocket, so it runs quietly with very little vibration, which is why people choose it for garages under or next to bedrooms.

What's the difference between the Sommer evo+ and pro+?

Both use the same direct drive carriage, rail and chain. The evo+ has its control electronics on the ceiling. The pro+ adds a separate wall control unit with a built-in keypad, connected to the rail by a 16 ft low-voltage wire, so the rail is shorter and easier to fit around beams and ducts. Each comes in 2060 (3/4 HP, 600 N), 2080 (1 HP, 800 N) and 2110 (1-1/4 HP, 1,100 N).

Which remote works with my Sommer opener?

The evo+ and pro+ use 922.5 MHz: use the S10250 4-button or S10560 Pearl Twin 2-button remote. Older Synoris and Direct Drive openers use 310 MHz or 315 MHz. For 310 MHz, use the 4054V005 2-button remote. Sommer has discontinued its 315 MHz remotes, keypads and wall controls, so call us with your model number if yours is 315 MHz.

How do I tell if my Synoris or Direct Drive is 310 or 315 MHz?

Check the label on the back of your remote, or open the control housing: Sommer says a black receiver board standing up on the green logic board means 310 MHz and a red one means 315 MHz. Sommer lists 310 MHz for the Synoris 1043 and 1053 and for openers bought from June 2013 on.

How do I program a remote to a Sommer evo+ or pro+?

Press the radio button on the motor carriage once for channel 1 (normal open/stop/close), then hold the remote button you want to use until the channel LED goes out. Press the radio button twice for channel 2 (partial opening or light). The remote in the box comes already programmed. Full steps for keypads, HomeLink and Synoris openers are in our Sommer programming guide.

Will my old Synoris remotes work with a new evo+?

No. The evo+ and pro+ use Sommer's 922.5 MHz radio, so 310 MHz and 315 MHz remotes, keypads and wireless wall controls won't pair. Plan on new 922 MHz accessories when you replace a Synoris or Direct Drive opener.

My door is taller than 8 ft. Will a Sommer opener work?

Yes. The evo+ and pro+ rail fits 7 ft and 8 ft doors as standard; add the 9'9" or 11'6" rail extension kit for taller doors. Synoris and Direct Drive rails take the 3 ft and 5 ft rail extensions.
