We stock OEM remotes plus reliable compatible transmitters in single- and multi-button styles, covering fixed-code (DIP switch), rolling-code, and encrypted Security+ 2.0 / Intellicode systems.

Find your match in seconds. Check the brand and frequency (300, 310, 315, 318, 390, or 922 MHz) printed on your old remote or opener, then match the coding type (DIP-switch vs. rolling code). When in doubt, the model number on the back of your existing remote is the fastest way to confirm fit.

How to Choose a Replacement Remote

Three things determine compatibility: the brand/system, the radio frequency, and the coding method. Older openers use fixed-code transmitters set with tiny DIP switches — you match the switch pattern on a new remote to the receiver. Newer openers use rolling-code security (LiftMaster Security+ 2.0, Genie Intellicode, Linear MegaCode) that you program by pressing a learn button on the motor head.

  • LiftMaster / Chamberlain / Craftsman: 315 / 390 MHz, Security+ & Security+ 2.0 (purple, orange, yellow learn buttons).
  • Genie / Overhead Door: Intellicode & Intellicode 2 rolling code.
  • Linear / Multi-Code / Stanley / Allstar: 300–390 MHz fixed-code DIP-switch transmitters.
  • Marantec / Sommer / Hormann: 315 / 868 / 922 MHz European-style rolling code.
  • Universal remotes can replace several brands at once — handy when you are not sure of the original.

Still unsure? Call us at 877-379-4947 with your opener model and we will match the right remote.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which garage door remote I need?
Check the brand and frequency printed on your existing remote or on the opener's motor unit, then confirm the coding type. Fixed-code remotes have DIP switches you set to match; rolling-code remotes (Security+ 2.0, Intellicode, MegaCode) are programmed with the opener's learn button. The model number on your old remote is the surest match.
Can I use a universal remote with my opener?
Often yes. Universal remotes are designed to replace transmitters from several major brands and frequencies. Confirm the universal model lists your opener's brand and frequency before ordering, and follow its programming steps for fixed- or rolling-code systems.
What is the difference between fixed-code and rolling-code remotes?
Fixed-code (DIP-switch) remotes send the same code every time and are set by matching switch positions to the receiver. Rolling-code remotes change the code on every use for security and are paired using a learn button on the opener. They are not cross-compatible, so match your system's type.
How do I program a new garage door remote?
For rolling-code openers, press and release the learn button on the motor head, then press the remote button within 30 seconds until the lights flash. For DIP-switch remotes, set the switches to match the existing remote or receiver. Exact steps are in your opener's manual.
My remote stopped working - do I need a new one?
First try a fresh battery and reprogramming. If it still fails, the transmitter may be worn out or water-damaged and should be replaced. Match the brand, frequency, and coding type when you order a new one.
